Shannon Renee , started her make- up training, years before she knew she was going to be a make- up artist, with the chores of applying make -up for the dead at her home. Shannon, the daughter of a funeral director was raised over a funeral home as a child. She had the wonderful chore of helping her father with the funerals ; applying make-up was one of the tasks on her list. Little did Shannon know, this would open the door to what she would become in life?
Shannon continued her make -up skills throughout her high school years applying make-up for all the students. Shannon, received her first paid make-up job at the age of 16, but was still determined to be an actor although her make -up skills were becoming great.
Shannon continued her education at Howard University in Washington, Dc pursuing the craft of acting. Upon her education at Howard, Shannon, like many others took a make- up course with the renowned Reggie Ray. . This class would change her life and career path forever. Shannon completed the course and knew that she no longer wanted to become a professional actor; Shannon, determined to find a solution to her new found love of make-up wanted more than what the class had to offer. In return, Shannon, along with Reggie Ray created a preliminary program to expand the make- up course making Shannon one of the first the Graduated Howard University with a Make- up Certificated of Accreditation along with a B.F.A. Shannon Also received a B.F.A in Acting.
Shannon’s 25 + years in the craft of makeup , range spans from beauty make -up to special effects. Shannon, has excelled in the craft of make- up artistry; when she induced into the make up artist union at the age of 25 ,Shannon was one of their youngest members at the time .Shannon, has worked on over 50+ films / 25+ Television shows / countless music video’/ National Broadway Tours/ Concerts /National Editorial work in her make -up career. Thus far, toured with Boys II Men, Missy Elliot and Keyshia Cole, Beyoncé .Shannon has provided make -up for President Barak Obama, Hillary Clinton, President Bill Clinton, Stevie Wonder, Ossie Davis, Rza, Leah Thompson, Frankie Faison, Black Thought (The Roots) Patti Labelle, Keke Palmer, Romeo Miller, Jason Pasqual, and Phylisha Rashad just to name a few and a countless amount of actor in her career. Shannon was awarded Make- Up Artist of the year 2008. Shannon’s first published Book “ Make- Up is Just …Colored Dirt” . Is currently writting her second book “ The Pretty Department! The Business of Makeup for Tv & Film” .
Shannon’s, upbeat, creative, and colorful personality, her warm and welcoming smile is a plus to all that she has the honor to work with. Shannon, believes that make- up is just as personal as some ones name; Shannon, makes sure she allows her talent’s beauty and or film directors vision clearly shine’s through with a little help from her. Make-up is still one of the things that you still get to play with, as an adult, Shannon, never stops playing!
In 2023 Shannon added to her career path when she partnered with her wife to start a film production company HAVE YOU MET ME PRODUCTIONS, where they shoot and produced their first film Dimes. Moving to a seat behind the camera as a producer has been a welcoming challenge and change for Shannon adding to the full breath of the film making process and having more women and people of color in the room where thing happen is a focus she has been driven to ensure artist have a fully opportunity to launch or continue their careers.
